We’ve only been back for a week but the European Jiu-Jitsu IBJJF Championship we attended this month seems like a distant memory.
The European Championship is the most prestigious and largest Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament held in Europe by the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation. This championship has taken place since January 2004, each year in Lisbon, Portugal. Recently the event moved to a new and bigger location, Gymnasium Pavilhão Multiusos de Odivelas which has a capacity of close to 5,000 seats. In 2015, the European Jiu-Jitsu championships become the world’s biggest BJJ event with 3,400 registered competitors compared to 2,300 in 2014. This illustrates a huge growth in European Jiu Jitsu in recent years.
It was a fantastic team event and after many extremely tough fights we came back with two bronze and one silver medal.
