Ippon Busy Start to 2015

Ippon Busy Start to 2015

We’ve had a busy start of the year at Ippon Gym, with many fighters testing their skills on various shows and interclubs a new timetable, and some improvements to our gym.

Here is a short round-up of all our fights and interclubs so far.

Total Collision 1 at Carrington Hotel, 28th February 2015

Total Collision saw three of our Boxers stepping into the ring for the first time.
Ryan Hunt defeated Derrick Randal by unanimous decision, James Phillips stopped Ben Cunningham in the third round and Tom Longfoot lost to Luke Foster by unanimous decision. Our lads deserve a round of applause considering they decided to go ahead with their bouts despite their opponents changing in the last minute, giving away a lot of experience.

Shock N Awe 19, March the 7th

Shock N Awe 19 featured over 20 fights from K1, AMMA, WAMMA and as always pro MMA.
Ippon gym was represented by Molly McCann, Joe Laurence, Gary Corbett and Andy Kerr. Our team came away with two wins, two losses and a retained Welterweight title.
The level of support from the Ippon gym members was amazing and numbered well over 50 of you! Shock N Awe 21 is right around the corner with a massive fight card and Molly making her pro MMA debut makes this a must see event.

Warrior Fight Nights 6, 22nd of March at Littledown Leisure Centre, Bournemouth

Masson Hobbs won his first amateur K1 fight vs Jack Strudwick and got nominated for the fight of the night. Sean Callaghan defeated Przemek Tkaczyk in his first Muay Thai bout. And finally Gary Corbett lost by unanimous decision against Jason Meedham in a tough and a very close fight.

Senjo Interclub 29th of March, Ringmasters Arena, Sittingbourne,Kent

Interclub Kent

11 of our Muay Thai fighters travelled a long way to test their skills against opponents from well-known London clubs. Everyone performed exceptionally well, listened to their corner and held there own against some tough opponents while showing great skills too.

Interclub 11th of March, House of Pain, Bournemouth

This interclub saw our first ever junior to represent Ippon gym who outskilled and outclassed his much more experienced opponent. Alex Sirosi had two fights that day, K1 then boxing to finish. Alex thrived under the pressure and showed amazing angles and a willingness to push through even in the last second of all six rounds. Next on was Sintija who weathered a storm that lasted all three rounds and dished out some hard kicks and knock out back hands. Lastly Ryan Hunt who had a tough boxing match.

Ringmasters Fight Night in Kent on the 25th of April

Monika Grzankowska drew against Ileen Somboongedd and Gordon Linton won by unanimous decision against Clint Jemmett.
